What kinds of cosmetic procedures do you perform?

I treat medical dermatology conditions as well as many cosmetic treatments such as botox, fillers, PRP, thread lifting, chemical peels & laser.

How do I know if I'm a candidate for cosmetic work?

The best way to know if you're a candidate for cosmetic work is to schedule a consultation with your dermatologist!

What is botox?

Botox is an injection that relaxes muscles to reduce the appearance of dynamic lines on the face.

Where do most people get botox?

The "eleven lines" between the eyes are the most common area to get botox for the first time.

What age is it best to get botox or cosmetic work done?

When you start seeing lines forming on your skin is the best time to start getting cosmetic work done. Prevention is easier than reversing time!

What are things you like to tell or talk to your patients about before starting botox?

If you're going to invest in wrinkle softening procedures like botox, then you HAVE to take care of your skin – wear sunscreen every single day & protect your skin from the sun. There is nothing worse than having a wrinkle free face that has a lot of sun damage.

What are the worst myths about botox? How do you respond to them?

The worst myth is that botox will make you look like a different person or look crazy. Fortunately, botox isn't really that type of product. A botox treatment should make you look just like you, but look refreshed. Most people won't even notice you had any treatments. They will notice that you look well-rested.

Do botox, or similar injections, hurt?

Botox injections feel like little pinches with a very small needle. They are usually manageable for most people. Other injections such as fillers may have more pain associated with it & sometimes requires using a topical numbing cream prior to the procedure to make it more tolerable.

How expensive are most botox/ injection procedures?

The cost ranges based on how many areas you are treating, but I would prepare to spend at least $500.

How often do I need to get it done?

Botox last about 3-4 months so you'd need to get it done about 3-4 times per year.

Who should I consult about getting cosmetic work done?

You should consult a board certified physician in a cosmetic oriented specialty – dermatology, plastic surgery or oculoplastic surgery.

What is something you think everyone should know about botox, or other cosmetic procedures?

It's not vain to want to look your best!

So true Dr. Chang! We always trust the professionals when it comes to skin. We hope these tips help you make a well informed decision about cosmetics procedures & if they are a good fit for you.
