Cabana Life Insider's Guide To Amelia Island

Hey y’all! I’m McKenzie Fussell, lifestyle blogger at Somethin' Southern! I’m fortunate to live with my family in my hometown – Amelia Island, FL! It’s a beautiful town filled to the brim with Southern charm, natural beauty, and so much to eat, enjoy & explore!

WHAT TO PACK

No matter the season you’re going to want to pack your beach gear! Cabana Life is nearly always appropriate in these parts! The summers are hotter than hot, so light fabrics that can easily transition from a day at the beach to dinner outdoors is the best choice. I love pairing my Cabana Life with Jack Rogers sandals! Here’s your checklist: coverup, off the shoulder dress for dinner,  a sundress for strolling around town and a swimsuit (or three!) I pair straw sunhats with just about everything these days! A cute accessory that doubles as sun protection!

WHERE TO STAY

For a couples getaway I highly recommend the new Amelia Schoolhouse Inn downtown, it’s so charming! If you’re visiting with children, you can’t go wrong with the Omni Amelia Island Plantation. And for a girl’s weekend – the Ritz Carlton is your place!

WHAT TO EAT

This is always a tough one for me! Our town has developed quite the food scene! Here are my top picks:

Dinner: If you’re visiting with your husband, grab a reservation at Le Clos. It’s an intimate setting with the most wonderful French food!! For something a bit more family friendly I recommend The Down Under (they have a gorgeous view and a delicious seafood menu!) and for girl’s night you’ve got to try Espana followed by dessert at the Decantery

Lunch: I can’t turn down the Shrimp Salad at Café Karibo, the pimento cheese sandwich at Lagniappe or a cheese board from The Patio Place!

Breakfast: T-rays is a favorite for locals! They have THE best biscuits and gravy!

 WHAT TO DO

  1. Enjoy a sunset river cruise on the Amelia River Cruise line! It’s BYOB and bring your own food. They have live music and the best tour guides! It’s always a blast!

  1. Stop in to some of our amazing small businesses! A few of my favorites: – Cape House carries an amazing selection of homewares, art and furniture. Hudson & Perry has a precious gift and greeting card for every occasion. The Monkey Barrel is my go-to for baby clothes and gifts! And the Plantation Shop has a beautiful collection of antiques.

  1. Grab a spot on the beach and hangout until the sun sets! I can’t get enough of our gorgeous beaches! Just make sure you’re wearing your Cabana Life for UPF 50+ protection all day long!

I hope you enjoy your visit to my beautiful hometown! There’s a little something for everyone and so much to fall in love with!
