It's no surprise that we love the beach. After all, that's one of the reasons that we developed sun protective clothing to keep you covered while you're in the sun.
We love all things that make us think of the sun and sand, including beach-themed parties, sunny sports and ocean themed recipes. That's why we got so excited when we came across this recipe for Under-the-Sea graham crackers on The First Year blog.
This would be such a cute idea to make as an appetizer or dessert for a child's birthday party, a pool party or a backyard barbecue during the summer. They look great when laid out on a large tray to make up an ocean scene. You'll impress your friends before they gobble up the delicious dessert.
The best part is that you don't have to do much to make it. This ocean themed recipe requires just a little bit of assembly, but no ovens or cooking. This makes it a great recipe for kids to make with you.
What you'll need for this ocean themed recipe:
-Blue icing (use a little blue food coloring to make white icing blue)
-Graham cracker crumbs
-Optional: red hots or red circular sprinkles, red, orange and green rainbow sprinkles, silver or white sphere sprinkles.
What to do:
-Lay out all of your graham crackers on a large tray or platter.
-Spread blue frosting on most of the graham cracker.
-Dip one end of the graham cracker into the crumbs so that they stick to the frosting.
-Place a goldfish or two on the cracker and press into the frosting. Add a couple of bubbles coming from the fish's mouth using white or silver ball sprinkles.
-Arrange a red hot or red circular sprinkle with some red or orange rainbow sprinkles to make a crab shape.
-Press on some green sprinkles to make seaweed.
Cover these with some saran wrap if you won't be eating them right away. The icing can make the graham crackers soggy in hot, humid weather.
