When you’re coming out of a winter slump, it’s easy to make your house sparkle with some spring cleaning or transition your closet for versatile warm-weather functionality. But do you take the time to take care of yourself? If you’re in a rut after being inside all winter or just can’t seem to get motivated with the change of seasons, take some time to reconnect with yourself using the 7 steps below.
Reconnect, Recharge and Reboot
Create a vision of what you’d like your spring to look like. A vision adds intent and purpose to everything you do and can remind you of what’s important and enjoyable to you.
2. Wake up earlier.
Even 10 or 15 extra minutes in the morning is like finding a treasure trove of hidden time that’s just for you.
3. Treat yourself.
Revamp your wardrobe with convenient, comfortable and chic styles that will make you feel like a queen. Sun protective clothing lets you pamper your skin without even knowing it. Pretty prints liven up the neutral winter greys.
4. Make a list of the things you loved to do as a child.
Remember when every day seemed to last forever and you spent the spring waiting for summer to come? Write down what made you feel magical during that time. Then go and do one of the things on the list.
5. Send a letter.
Take the time to pour your heart out to a friend. Do it on paper, in your handwriting, and mail it off. Connecting with those you love can help you remember what fulfills you.
6. Write in a journal.
If you don’t know where to start, simply sit down at the end of each day and write down 3 things you’re grateful for. Focusing on gratitude will help you to attract positivity into your life.
7. Turn off technology.
Social media is a distraction that keeps us from connecting with our deeper selves. Tune out for a day or two so that you can focus on your own thoughts and relationships.
Taking time to do something for yourself can be all you need to reboot your inspiration. Take baby steps; making time for yourself doesn’t have to involve a weekend getaway or a fancy retreat. If you can get away, however, make the most of it. Don’t forget to pack some sun protective clothing to show off your style and sun sense while you’re basking in your inner glow.
