Summer is finally on its way! Our family calendar has been filled with BBQs and beach trips. Our fridge is stocked with lemonade and ice pops. Long days outside with my little girl now wrap up with lazy evenings on the patio with my husband. Life is good.
Given that I had a scary experience with skin cancer earlier this year, I was a little nervous my new obsessive relationship with sun protection would get everyone in a tizzy. I definitely wanted my family to be protected from rays, but in the back of my mind, I could already hear growls and moans as my family meandered onto the beach looking like the cast of Revenge of the Nerds. The fashion stylist in me was intent to find gear that would cover us from harsh rays without making us look positively silly in the baby pool. Friends turned me on to the Cabana Life line, and honestly, it’s alleviated all my sun-protection stress.
Shortly after remission from melanoma (the deadliest form of skin cancer), Melissa Papcock developed the Cabana Life line. She was eager to keep her kiddos out of the sun, but was totally turned off by the options in the market at the time. She joined forces with a past colleague to create a beautiful line of rash guards, swimsuits, cover-ups, beach pants, and accessories that moms and kids would actually want to wear. The line blocks 98% of the sun’s harmful UVA/UVB rays versus standard lightweight clothing, which only blocks 5%.
Take a peek at my favorite sun-safe picks for this season for moms and kids:
The Lattice Beach Pants, $82, may be my favorite piece in the line. They are perfect for breezy days without worrying about burning legs!
The Cabana Life Accessory Collection includes beach bags and hats, both under $50.
Stay safe in the sun this summer!
